Who can describe the bond of God’s charity? Who will be able to express the perfection of its beauty? Unspeakable is the height to which charity, our union with God, raises us. Charity covers a multitude of sins; charity bears all things, tolerates everything with patience. There is nothing foul or haughty in charity. Charity cannot endure division; it does not provoke rebellion. Charity does everything with harmony. In charity, all of God’s elect are perfect. Nothing lacking in charity is acceptable to God.
St. Clement of Rome
