The symbolism of this statue is very beautiful. Our Lady has the Child Jesus in one arm and in her other hand She holds a sceptre. This is to show that by the power She had over the Child Jesus, which She conserved throughout her entire life, her omnipotence extends to the whole world, to the entire universe.
And as the omnipotent Mistress of the universe, She has the power to help us in everything that we desire. She is an omnipotent helper. Her smiling and amiable visage also speaks to us of her mercy. These are two factors that should convince us of her assistance. She desires, without ceasing, to help us and can help us in everything. If we ask, She will surely come to our aid.
