Spiritual Pilgrimage at Aparecida

No sickness or earthly obstacle can cool the fervent love of the Brazilian people for their Patroness. And although it was not possible to carry out the traditional pilgrimage of thousands of members of the Oratory Apostolate to the National Shrine of Aparecida, owing to the rules imposed by the pandemic, nothing could prevent them from  joining spiritually in the pilgrimage held on August 8 or from participating actively with comments, requests and intentions transmitted via the internet..

Spiritual Pilgrimage at Aparecida on August 8, 2020

The Mass was celebrated by His Most Reverend Excellency Bishop Benedito Beni dos Santos, assisted by two herald deacons, with priests of the institution concelebrating. It was broadcast live by Radio Aparecida. Personally participating in the celebration were small groups of Heralds from the both the masculine and feminine sectors, as well as a reduced number of Oratory Apostolate members, representing all those who were also there in spirit.

 

São Paulo – Formed by Msgr. João since his youth, Fr. Walmir Bortoletto faced a long and painful illness with the fortitude of the heroes, and surrendered his soul to God on September 7. In the photos, greeting the founder on the day of his priestly ordination; the body before burial; and celebrating Mass in Our Lady of the Rosary Basilica.

 

Mozambique – After almost five months of quarantine, it was possible to resume Masses with public attendance, both in the Heralds’ House in Matola (photo at right) and at St. Vincent de Paul Parish community in Matola-Gare, entrusted to the pastoral care of the institution (photos at left and centre).

 

Spain – In Madrid, the First Saturdays devotion continues to be carried out monthly in the Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidro Labrador, with Mass, crowning of the Statue and Rosary with meditation. In the photos, the entrance procession of the ceremonies held in September and August.

 

Pernambuco, Brazil – Basic supply packages were distributed by the Heralds of the Gospel in the cities of Recife and Vitória de Santo Antão, among other places.

 

Costa Rica – Herald missionaries helped Fr. Alexander Quesada to collect donations for the needy in the San Jerónimo District in Moravia Canton.
