Thanks to the impetus of the preaching friars, St. Thomas Aquinas outstanding among them, Scholasticism reached the height of its brilliance, filling the whole world with awe for its perfect exposition of Theology and Philosophy. The Church would entrust the Dominican Order with the keeping of the sacred deposit of Revelation, and its members would be described as “hammers of heterodoxy”.
[This religious family completed] the picture of the main currents of spirituality which, in all the richness of their nuances, composed the glory of Christian Civilization. In that blessed age, the request made in the Our Father was, to an extent, fulfilled: “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” And the result was the flourishing of holiness in all classes and in every state in life.
