Caieiras (Brazil) – On January 28, the liturgical memorial of the Angelic Doctor, Most Rev. Benedito Beni dos Santos, Emeritus Bishop of Lorena, delivered the inaugural lecture for the opening of the academic year of the St. Thomas Aquinas Theological Institute (ITTA) and the Aristotelian-Thomistic Philosophical Institute (IFAT). The prelate then presided over a solemn Eucharist, which was attended by professors and students.
Paraguay – With great joy, the pipe organ in Mother of Good Counsel Church in Ypacaraí was blessed on December 22 during a Holy Mass, which was followed by an inaugural concert. On the occasion of the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the Heralds of the Gospel contributed their music to the solemn Eucharist held at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Caacupé, presided over by Fr. Kirthan Blasius Carlo, EP.
Spain – On January 26, the members of the Heralds of the Gospel present in the Spanish nation gathered in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza for a Holy Mass celebrated at the main altar. After the Liturgy, the entire assembly formed a procession to the chapel of the Blessed Virgin, where they made a floral offering to her.
Italy – On the occasion of the centenary anniversary of the Parish of St. Hilary in the town of Malcontenta, located in the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Venice, the Heralds of the Gospel participated in the procession and Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Bishop Francesco Moraglia, Metropolitan Patriarch.
Ecuador – The Pilgrim Statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary visited the Parish of St. John Bosco in the city of Cuenca during the Christmas celebrations. After the crowning of the Blessed Virgin, the faithful were invited to come closer to her to make their requests.
Dominican Republic – During the festivities for Our Lady of Altagracia, Mother and protectress of the Dominican people, the Heralds of the Gospel participated in the solemn procession through the historic centre of the capital, Santo Domingo. In January, St. John Bosco Parish, in Jarabacoa, received a visit from the Pilgrim Statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; the image was also carried to the Margarita Herrera Geriatric Centre, in the same city, to impart her blessings.
Piraquara (Brazil) – In January, the Heralds of the Gospel cooperators from this southern city gathered with Fr. Rodrigo Fugiyama Nunes, EP, for an instructive event at the house of the Heralds. In addition to the talks, those present also participated in a Holy Mass at the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel.
The Magi Kings Came Bearing Gifts!
After laying their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh at the feet of the Child Jesus (cf. Mt 2:11), the Three Magi Kings from the Orient came bringing toys, clothing and food items to needy children in Guatemala, stopping at Santa Elena in the municipality of Barillas, and at El Colorado in the municipality of San José Pinula. They also distributed gifts in Ypacariaí, Paraguay, as well as at the house of the Heralds in Sevilla la Nueva, Spain, and in Lima, Peru.
