on one occasion, the Lord Jesus appeared to Gertrude and asked for her heart: “My beloved, give Me your heart.”

She offered it joyfully and it seemed to her as if the Lord placed it against His own divine Heart, drawing it out like a channel reaching down to the earth. Through this channel He generously poured out the effusions of His irrepressible goodness and said to her: “Henceforth, it will be my good pleasure to use your heart as a channel through which I will pour from the well-spring of my mellifluous Heart, torrents of divine consolation upon those who dispose themselves to receive them abundantly, having recourse to you with confidence and humility.”
